Nevada Committee On Testing for Intoxication

Background

The Committee on Testing for Intoxication is established by Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 484.388 as a 5-member committee appointed by the Directory of the Department of Public Safety (DPS).  purpose

Purpose

The purpose of the committee is to certify and approve breath testing devices as being accurate and reliable to test for intoxication, to keep a list of such approved devices, and to certify individuals in the proper use of such devices.  The Committee meets on an as-needed basis to add new devices to the approved list and to conduct related business.

Prior to December 13, 1999, the list of approved devices was contained in the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 484, sections 606, 631 and 701.  After that date, administration of the list became a function of the Committee for Testing for Intoxication.  For information concerning the list of approved devices and/or committee meetings, please contact the committee chairman. members
